Instantly identify misfiring cylinders using the
FirstLook™ Sensor in the exhaust pipe or the vehicles O2 sensors.
With the push of a button, identifies all misfires by cylinder on all gasoline engines--European, Asian, and American.
Saves time and pressure in diagnosing rough running engine problems by quickly determining whether a drivability issue is coming from the engine (misfire) or drive train (torque converter shudder) systems.
Saves time in repairing rough engine problems by giving direction to diagnosing the root cause of misfires.
Saves costs in repairing rough engine problems. No more swapping parts and hoping for the best at your customer's expense.
With direct connection to the
O2 sensor or exhaust, identifies even partial misfires, helping to sell and justify the benefits of fuel injector cleaning.
Features
At times even the ECM can't detect the misfire so relying on scan tool data is not always the solution. Thompson Auto Labs have developed a proven system that cures this headache for the technician. No more guessing which cylinder is causing the problem. Simply hook the
FirstLook™ sensor into the exhaust pipe, connect a sync probe to an ignition wire and press start on the software. Immediately if there is a miss you will be notified which cylinder is causing the symptoms. By inputting key information into the software the ACE Misfire Detective will also provide the most likely cause of the misfire - fuel system, ignition system or mechanical problem.
Through the tailpipe
Finding misfires has never been easier! Using the
FirstLook™ Sensor inserted in the tailpipe and a sync probe connected to an ignition wire or injector the ACE Misfire software will immediately identify the misfiring cylinder on any gasoline vehicle.
Using the vehicles O2 sensors
When using the vehicles O2 sensors the ACE Misfire software can detect small combustion inefficiencies caused be dirty injectors or carbon build-up. This ability makes the ACE Misfire software the ultimate preventive maintenance and emissions tool.
Hard to find misfires
Save time locating hard to find misfires, the ACE Misfire software will immediately detect the slightest misfires which can be very elusive using conventional methods. After the misfire is found the software will ask the technician for addition information from the vehicle and then let the technician know where the most likely cause of the problem is - the ignition system, fuel system, or a mechanical problem.
Preventive maintenance tool
When used as a preventive maintenance tool the ACE Misfire software will show when the injectors need cleaned and even print pre and post repair reports to justify the expense for the customer.

When used with the
FirstLook™ Sensor
Using the ACE Misfire Detective with the
FirstLook™ Sensor, misfires can be identified by cylinder on all gasoline vehicles - foreign and domestic.
When using the vehicles O2 sensors
A.C.E. Misfire Detective identifies misfires by cylinder on almost all 1996 and newer domestic models. Check the list of supported domestic engines
here. This list is constantly been updated for new engines. Updates are downloadable from the web.
A.C.E. Misfire Detective identifies misfires by bank on all models both foreign and domestic.
Requirements
The A.C.E. Misfire software doesn't require any complicated equipment. All is required is an ADC-212 series oscilloscope or an automotive USB oscilloscope(PS3223,
or PS3423)
and a inductive type sync probe (we recommend
CT-AC07). To check through the tailpipe the
FirstLook™ Pulse Sensoris required.
PC Requirements:
Processor: Pentium class processor or equivalent.
Memory: 32 MB minimum
Disk space: 10 MB minimum
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, XP or later.
Ports: For the PS3000 units (USB 1.1 compliant port minimum. USB 2.0 compliant port recommended. PC oscilloscope must be connected direct to the port or a powered USB hub.) The ADC-212 series requires a LPT port or you can purchase #PP196 USB-Parallel adapter)
Operation
To find a misfire, just follow these four steps!
Start the A.C.E software on your computer.
Select the manufacturer and engine type.
Connect one lead to an ignition reference for #1 cylinder and connect the other lead to the oxygen sensor of the bank you want to test or to the
FirstLook™ Sensor in the tailpipe.
Click Start. It’s that simple!
A.C.E. shows the cylinder that’s misfiring, gives you suggestions for fixing the misfire, and even provides a report of before and after results that you can give to your customers. A.C.E. provides you the power of knowledge based on years of research. Learn more about how A.C.E. Misfire Detective works by
